Love the ribbons on your espadrilles, but not the bow? You're not alone. The good news is that ribbon espadrilles are much more flexible than they look. In this short video, I show you three ways to wear them, so you can choose the style that suits you best.
1. The classic bow
Cross the ribbons over your foot, wrap them behind your ankle, and cross them again in front. Pull gently as you go, keeping a little tension, but not too much. Don't wrap too high on the leg, or the ribbons will slide down. Keep them flat, and finish with a bow at the back or on the side.
2. The hidden bow
If you don't like the bow showing, fold the loops inside and slide them under the wrapped ribbons. It gives you a cleaner, simpler look, and nobody will know it's there.
3. No bow at all
Prefer nothing hanging? Tie a double knot at the back of your ankle, then simply cut off the extra ribbon. This is also a great trick if your espadrilles are a little too big: you can tighten them exactly the way you like, and they'll stay that way.
Made by hand, just for you
Diegos is a small family business. For twenty years, I've been sewing ribbons onto espadrilles by hand, and every pair is made to order in my workshop. You choose the model, the size, and the colour of your ribbons, and I take care of the rest.
A big thank you to my son Enzo for modeling!
