Making real espadrilles takes some skills!

Teresa, one of the best seamstresses of the village, loves to sew her daily stock of espadrilles in the cool shade of the trees in the park in front of her house. Diego has joined her on her regular bench to discuss the techniques of espadrille-making while profiting from her vast and deep knowledge. Many tiny details are important in the making of a truly traditional espadrille and today Diego hopes to learn more about the tightness of the toe box embroidery and about the art of the even hand stitching. Teresa is pleased to share her skill with Diego, who attentively listens to the details that illustrate the complexity of creating such a simple and humble shoe, like the espadrille.
